Corrupt Official Pleads Guilty

The Washington Times newspaper is reporting today that former Prince George’s County (Maryland) Executive Jack Johnson has decided to plead guilty to two felony public corruption charges.  Today’s story was headlined Johnson pleads guilty to public corruption charges.

Johnson, a former Prince George’s County Prosecuting Attorney, had solicited bribes in what federal officials characterized as a “pay to play” scheme.  (more…)

Election Administration Update

I voted in the school district and highway district elections at precinct 38, Woodland Middle School, this morning.  The polling place workers carefully checked my identification, and I verified that my residence address was correct as printed in the poll book.  I also noticed that the ballot I was to receive had been preprinted in the poll book.  After receiving the ballot, I checked it to make sure I had received the correct ballot and voted it.  Overall, it seemed to me as if the polling place workers performed their duties intently and diligently.  (more…)

According to this KXLY television news story, a Washington State Patrol trooper shot and killed a 400-pound hog in the Spokane Valley this afternoon.  No, it was a real hog, not just an overweight Hell’s Angel.  (more…)
